A Delegation Of African Union Commission Visits Türkiye, Engages ADC Ahead of 2024 Türkiye-Africa Ministerial Meeting
Ankara, Türkiye, Monday 16 October 2023 – A delegation of the African Union Commission has visited Türkiye, and has engaged the African Diplomatic Corps –ADC, in preparedness of the 2024 High-Level Türkiye-Africa Ministerial Meeting.
The Sierra Leone Deputy Head of Mission to the country, Paul A.S Minah participated in the engagement.
The ADC is an organization composed of Thirty Six (36) African Ambassadors to Türkiye. The goal of the organization is to lobby Turkish politicians, other international non-governmental organizations, educators, policy analysts and the media on current affairs in Africa; and most importantly to sell the image of the continent.
The Dean of the ADC. His Excellency Majok Guandong Thiep, Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan to Türkiye, welcomed the AUC for what he called a follow-up visit on the pelages Türkiye did to the Commission during its last Ministerial Meeting, adding that the ADC looked forward to working with the Commission for the common Africa agenda.
The Head of delegation of the African Union Commission to Türkiye, Minata SAMATE CESSOUMA, who is the Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development thanked the ADC for their role in concretizing the Türkiye-Africa relations, saying that during her engagements with the Turkish authorities, she would ensure all aspects of Türkiye-Africa Partnership be reviewed within the frame of the decisions and cooperation areas agreed on at the Türkiye-Africa Partnership Summit.
She further noted that being a strategic partner of the African Union, Türkiye attaches special importance to develop and to deepen its cooperation with the organization and the continent.
