Sierra Leone’s Deputy Mines Minister Umaru Napoleon Koroma Participates In 9th World Cooperation Industries Forum, Says Country Has More To Offer Than Civil War, Blood Diamonds and Ebola

 

Istanbul, Turkiye, Tuesday 19 September 2023 - Sierra Leone Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Umaru Napoleon Koroma - ESQ, has participated in the 9th World Cooperation Industries Forum, and has told the gathering that his country has more to offer to the world than Civil War, Blood Diamonds and Ebola.


Honorable Uamru Napoleon Koroma was accompanied by the Deputy Ambassador of the Sierra Leone Embassy to Turkiye, Paul A.S Minah.

He made this statement during his closing address to business leaders at the World Cooperation Industries Forum in Istanbul, Turkiye, saying that Sierra Leone should not just be remembered for negative reasons, but also for the many positive things the country could offer to the world.

“Sierra Leone is a relatively small country of about 72,000 km2 in the West Coast of Africa. However, despite its relatively small size, our country is richly endowed with minerals such as diamonds, gold, rutile, Zircon, Ilmenite, bauxite, iron ore; and the country has had a vibrant mining sector since the 1920s.



“These mineral deposits offer significant opportunities for high returns on investment, and we welcome investors to explore these opportunities. We invite Turkiye and the world to come to Sierra Leone”, he assured.

The learned Deputy Minister further disclosed that Sierra Leone also has the largest natural deposit of rutile in the world at over 600 million Tonnes JORC Compliant Resource Estimate, adding that the country has in recent time discovered Lithium in the Northern part of the Country.
“My presence here today is a testament to the continued positive relations we share with the people of Turkiye whose businesses are providing us electricity under the KARPOWER ship, managing our new airport under the Suma Company, among others”, he noted..



The World Cooperation Industries Forum is an international business forum that introduces direct manufacturing companies in Turkiye to over 43 African countries to cooperate directly with producers.
The aim of the organization is to meet Turkish manufacturers and foreign importers, it also offers a chance to establish a direct connection with business people who are eager to invest in the African market.
