Sierra Leone Ambassador To Türkiye Tours Koru Ankara Hospital, Holds Meeting With Co-Founder
Koru Hospital Complex, Ankara, Thursday 27 November, 2025 –* Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Her Excellency Francess Virginia Anderson, PhD, has visited and toured the entire facility of the Koru Ankara Hospital and held a meeting with one of the hospital’s founders, Prof. Dr. Aydan Biri.

Prof. Dr. Biri, an Obstetrician–Gynecologist specializing in perinatology and maternal–fetal medicine, met with Ambassador Anderson as part of a follow-up engagement after an earlier courtesy visit in November. During that visit, the hospital, among other things, signaled its interest in establishing a Fellowship Partnership for Sierra Leonean doctors.

Prof. Dr. Biri reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to welcoming medical professionals from Sierra Leone, emphasizing that creating a Fellowship Program tailored for the benefit of Sierra Leonean doctors would be a top priority in 2026. She highlighted the opportunities for knowledge-sharing and professional exchange the program would offer.

Prof. Dr. Biri also outlined the wide range of specialized services available at Koru Hospital, including:
*Maternal and reproductive care:* prenatal and perinatal care, childbirth (normal and cesarean), infertility and IVF services, gynecological surgeries.
*Cancer and hematology treatment:* tumor diagnosis and therapy, radiation oncology, bone marrow transplantation, nuclear medicine.

*Cardiac and vascular care:* cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and intensive cardiac services.
Advanced surgical procedures: general, robotic, and laparoscopic surgeries in urology, gynecology, bariatrics, plastic surgery, and more.
*Diagnostics and imaging:* comprehensive tools supporting precise evaluation across specialties.
*Internal medicine and pediatrics:* broad medical services, including newborn care.
Supportive services: dental care, ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology, mental health, and rehabilitation.

In her remarks, Ambassador Anderson expressed appreciation to the Koru Ankara Hospital leadership for their warm welcome. She noted that Sierra Leone looks forward to working closely with the hospital, and in addition to the proposed Fellowship Program between the hospital, and the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health, and explore broader avenues of cooperation, particularly in securing modern medical equipment for Sierra Leonean healthcare facilities in the future; which she said would minimizes expensive overseas referrals for specialized care, improves efficiency within domestic hospitals through better-trained staff, and supports preventive and early-intervention care, reducing late-stage treatment costs.
“Thank you very much for the hospitality shown to me and my team. We will continue to work together to actualize the Fellowship Program within the first quarter of 2026,” Ambassador Anderson said.
