Sierra Leone Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Kai-Samba Follows Up On TiKA, Discusses Developmental Programs
Ankara, Türkiye, Monday 5 December 2022 – Sierra Leone ambassador to Türkiye, Mohamed Hassan Kai-Samba has engaged the President of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, TİKA - (TİKA - Türk İşbirliği ve Koordinasyon Ajansı Başkanlığı), Serkan Kayalar, and has discussed other developmental programs of the Cooperation.
TİKA is a government department under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, focusing on development cooperation. TİKA works in more than 150 countries and is responsible for the organization of the bulk of the country’s official development assistance to developing countries, with a particular focus on Turkic and African countries and communities. In 2020 alone, official development assistance from Türkiye increased by 1.2% to US$8 billion. As of January 2022, TİKA has undertaken 30,000 projects worldwide.
Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Kai-Samba thanked Mr. Serkan Kayalar for making time to meet him, saying that he was making follow-up on President Julius Maada Bio and President Erdogan’s discussion on opening a TiKA office in Sierra Leone, adding that the programs of the cooperation would help strengthen ties between the two countries.
On his path, the President of TiKA, Serkan Kayalar, welcomed the team from the Sierra Leone Embassy, and said he was happy for the follow-up meeting on the implementation of their programs in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Serkan Kayalar further noted that they were closely working with the Turkish Ministry of Finance and Foreign Affairs ministries to implement TiKA programs in Sierra Leone.
“We are very excited that TiKA is at the heart of the two Presidents, we will put on full gears for the opening of our office soon in Sierra Leone. Thank you very much for your visit”, Serkan Kayalar concluded.
He implored both parts to brief the two Presidents on the follow-up meeting held.
