Ambassador Soulay Daramy Conducts Diplomatic Training and Protocol Procedures For Staff Members, Commends The Leadership of The Mission

Chancery Building, Ankara, Türkiye, Monday 26 May 2025 -* Executive Director at the Sierra Leone Foreign Service Academy, Ambassador Souley Daramy has conducted diplomatic training and protocol procedures for staff members of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, and has commended the leadership of the embassy for that he described as an exemplary stewardship.

“The principal role of a diplomat is to foster mutually beneficial relations between nation states/ and / or international organisations. Over 195 independent states, as well as several dozen international organisations, interact everyday to maintain global peaceful co-existence, stability, and well-being of mankind. These interactions are what we call “Diplomacy” and the actors are called Diplomats”, he explained.

Ambassador Daramy told the gathering that it's always a great opportunity to serve one's country as a diplomat, adding that the conduct of training and learning diplomatic procedures for foreign staff lie in its ability to enhance their skills and knowledge, improve their performance, adapt to changing circumstances, and support their career development.

“It is a critical component of a diplomat's career, and its benefits are evident in the improved effectiveness of diplomatic efforts and the achievement of diplomatic objectives”, he noted.

He further said that Foreign Service Officers and Specialised Attaches must embody professionalism, which encompasses a range of qualities, skills, and behaviors, adding that Professionalism in the diplomatic context involves adequately representing one's country, providing a vital service to society, working with expert knowledge, earning and maintaining the trust of society, and informing both the home and host countries with the necessary information that are purposeful and one that would foster trade and investment opportunities on a win-win situation.

Her Excellency Ambassador Francess Virginia Anderson, PhD, thanked Ambassador Daramy for his service to Sierra Leone, saying that such a training would go a long way in shaping the professional conduct of staff members at the embassy.
